VETERINARY URGENT CARE?

While the concept of a veterinary urgent care center is relatively new - human urgent care centers have been around for a while.

Veterinary urgent care centers provide immediate medical attention for animals experiencing non-life-threatening emergencies, such as injuries, illnesses, or sudden concerns. Just as human urgent care centers offer quick access to medical care outside of regular office hours, veterinary urgent care centers ensure that pets receive timely evaluation and treatment, alleviating the stress and uncertainty of waiting for a scheduled veterinary appointment.

Please note: Family Companion is not-equipped to handle LIFE-THREATENING medical or surgical emergencies. If you think that your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please contact the nearest veterinary emergency hospital. Our dedicated, compassionate, and experienced doctors will thoroughly examine your pet prior to any diagnostics or treatments. If further care is deemed necessary including hospitalization, you will be informed of this so that you can make the best medical decision for your family and pet.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

  • ESTIMATE
Family Companion believes in price transparency. An estimate will be provided to you prior to any diagnostic or treatment services. The veterinary technician will team up with you to determine the most cost effective way in treating your pet taking into consideration any financial concerns. If financial assistance is needed, Family Companion accepts CareCredit.
  • FOLLOW UP CARE
After you leave our facility and with your permission, we will forward the medical records from your pets visit with us to your pets primary care veterinarian. We encourage you to follow-up with your primary veterinarian in a timely manner to ensure that your pet receives continued care. If you do not have primary veterinarian for your pet, a list of local veterinary clinics accepting new patients can be provided to you.
  • DIAGNOSTIC AND TREATMENTS
After discussion about physical examination findings and agreeing upon an estimate for services, the Family Companion team with performs the necessary diagnostics and treatments to get your pet feeling better. During these tests and treatments, your pet will be met with exceptional compassion and care. The staff at Family Companion prides itself in offering low stress, fear free techniques to help calm your pet during the visit.
  • EXAMINATION
You will be greeted by one of our client service representative and veterinary technicians. Once a thorough history is taken, the doctor will perform a complete head-to-toe examination of your pet.
  • WALK IN OR SCHEDULE AHEAD
Family Companion offers two ways in which your pet can be seen. You can walk-in to our facility at any time during regular business hours or you may book ahead by scheduling an appointment online or calling us at 440-413-5414. Booking an appointment ahead of time allows you to "wait at home" which can significantly lower stress for pets associated with waiting in a lobby.
  • What are your hours?
Family Companion Urgent Care is open 7 days week and closed on major holidays. Our current hours are: Monday: 10AM-8PM Tuesday: 10AM-8PM Wednesday: 8AM-8PM Thursday: 10AM-8PM Friday: 8AM-8PM Saturday: 8AM-4PM Sunday: 12PM-5PM
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
Family Companion accepts credit/debit, cash, checks, and CareCredit.
  • Do you hospitalize pets?
No. Family Companion Urgent Care is an OUT-PATIENT facility, meaning that we will examine, perform diagnostics, and treat your pet all within your visit to our clinic. If your pets condition warrants hospitalization, we will advise you of this and work closely with the nearest emergency center in transferring your pets case into their care.
  • Does my vet get a copy of my pets visit?
Yes! With your permission, we will email a summary of your pets visit with us to your primary care veterinary hospital after your visit to Family Companion Urgent Care.
  • Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, Family Companion Urgent Care allows for walk-in appointments but may be limited based on doctor case load. In addition to walk-ins, you can call ahead at 440-413-5414 to schedule an appointment or book online.
  • Do you accept pet insurance?
Pet insurance works a little different than human health insurance. Unlike in human medicine, we do not work directly with insurance companies. Please review your pets insurance policy to see if urgent care visits are covered. If covered, typically after you pay your invoice in full, you can submit the payment receipt to your pets insurance company where they will then reimburse you based on your agreed upon terms.
  • What kind of pets do you see?
Currently we are only providing care for dogs and cats.
